The Evidence Behind Confidante’s Approach

THE TWO MINUTE MIRACLE

The mental health benefits of journaling are fast and effective, earning the moniker "The Two Minute Miracle" (source: British Journal of Health Psychology).

Confidante’s guided journal is rooted in mindfulness, the foundation of leading approaches to mental health, including:

  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
  • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Based Compassion Training (CBCT)

These techniques have been proven to be effective at reducing anxiety and depression across numerous medical studies.

Overall, systematic reviews and meta-analyses show that MBTs [Mindfulness Based Therapies], including mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, brief mindfulness interventions, and smartphone and internet-based interventions are superior to waiting-list controls and as effective as traditional CBT in a range of anxiety and depressive disorders, with promising results emerging in pain disorders, addictions and post-traumatic stress disorder. Why We Started Confidante

ON A MISSION

We started Confidante because the world could use a little more emotional well being:

  • Nearly 4 in 10 Americans were diagnosed with a mental health disorder in 2023 (APA)
  • 1 in 8 people worldwide - nearly 1 billion people - live with a mental disorder (WHO)
  • Women and GenZ grapple with mental health conditions at a disproportionate rate (ADAA, KFF)

Confidante seeks to answer the question:

How might we deliver evidence-based solutions at scale in order to cultivate well being worldwide?

To support the most people possible, we will always provide a free version of Confidante. In addition, we seek to broaden our impact by giving back through the following programs:

  • The Confidante Scholarship Program offers Confidante Thrive for free to students and those who truly cannot afford it - no questions asked.

Confidante is built by a small global team of mindfulness practitioners inspired to use technology for good. Our team includes members who have been trained to teach MBSR and who have collectively spent thousands of hours practicing mindfulness and supporting the well being of others.
